Ava LaVerne Thomas-Killebrew

Funeral services for Ava Thomas-Killebrew, 63, of Houston formerly of West Columbia will Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Israel Chapel A.M.E. Church in West Columbia with Pastor Roderick Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas-Dumas Cemetery in East Columbia, Texas.

Ava passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Park Manor of Cyfair in Houston, TX.

She grew up in West Columbia and attended Charlie Brown High School and graduated from Columbia High School in 1972. After graduation she attended Prairie View A.M. University where she received her Bachelor Degree in Education. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Beta Lambda.  She taught at CBISD, HISD, Alief ISD and Cyfair ISD.

She was preceded in death by her father; Richard Thomas; mother, Louvenia Thomas Jones; grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories; spouse, David Wilson of Houston; aunt, Carrie Thomas of Brazoria; step-brother, Kerry Jones of Clute, host of cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, god-sisters, god-brothers and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Thomas, Ira Johnson, Jr., Henry Anderson, Johnny”Ricky” Washington, Anthony Edison and Kenneth Ball.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Wilson, Emmitt Thomas, Freddie Thomas, Jessie Thomas, Michael Thomas, Kenneth Ray Edwards, Allen Lee, Dan Lee, Jerry Williams and Class of 1972.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
