Tomasa Calderon Obituary

With a heart full of love and a lifetime of service, Tomasa “Tommie” Calderon, 94, of Angleton, TX, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 22, 1930, to Guadalupe and Manuela Mosqueda.

Tommie was a pillar of the Hispanic community, a fierce advocate, and a guiding force for so many. She spent over 20 years managing the Fire Sale, where she built lasting relationships with countless people. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas/Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Guadalupe Society. Through her civic involvement, she worked tirelessly to uplift and support those around her, ensuring that the voices of the Hispanic community were heard and valued.

Her generosity knew no bounds—her home was always open, her kitchen always full, and her heart always giving. She nourished not only with food but with love, guidance, and unwavering kindness. She found joy in the simple things—tending to her garden, sewing gifts for loved ones, and filling her home with the rich aromas of her famous French-fried shrimp.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Manuela Mosqueda; husband of 60+ years, Donato Calderon; brothers, José Ángel Mosqueda, Domingo Mosqueda, Nicanor Mosqueda, Salvador Mosqueda, and Donato Mosqueda; and her sister, Mary Jane Mata.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Noe Calderon, Marcos Calderon (Shirley), Herminio Calderon; and Javier Mosqueda (Teresa); her sisters, Josie Cervantes, Lupe Fuentes, Barbara Gonzales, Elida Escobedo, and Sandra Mosqueda; brother, Joe Mosqueda, as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 future great-grandson, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many cherished relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton.  A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, followed by a Funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Father Koi Le officiating. Burial will follow at Angleton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Calderon, Gary Hall, Brandon Owen, Jim Luna, Noe Mosqueda, and Dustin Plentl. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Gonzalez, Kris Foster, Mingo Marquez III and members of the 1968 Angleton Indian Baseball Club, a group she proudly supported.

Tommie’s love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Final arrangements entrusted to Dixon Funeral Home of Angleton (979)849-8800.
