Theodore Otto “Ted” Kaspar, age 90, passed away on January 29, 2026. He was born on January 2, 1936, in La Grange, Texas. He was the son of Theodore and Julie Kaspar of Ganado, Texas.
Ted graduated from Ganado High School as Student Vice President and Salutatorian. As Student Vice President and Salutatorian, Ted demonstrated leadership and academic excellence. He then attended the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas, before transferring to Victoria College, where he obtained an Associate in Arts Degree.
He joined the Texas National Guard and spent six years achieving the rank of Communications Sergeant. As a Communications Sergeant, Ted was responsible for managing military communications, ensuring that information was transmitted accurately and efficiently within his unit. He received an Honorable Discharge upon completing his service.
Ted was blessed with a loving family. He married his wife, Dorothy in November of 1960 and moved to Brazoria, Texas to start his new job working for Dow Chemical as a chemist, where he retired after 39 wonderful years. They had four beautiful children, Kenneth, Carol, Terry, and Curtis.
Ted became an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and joined various ministries of the church; he became a CCD teacher and a lector at his church. He enjoyed all kinds of groups and was a member of the Men’s Club and the KJT Society where he made many lasting friendships. Ted also became a member of the Knights of Columbus #8545, a Catholic fraternal service organization dedicated to charity, unity, and community service. He achieved the Fourth Degree, which recognizes exemplary commitment to charity and patriotism. As a member, Ted regularly volunteered at community events and served as an officer for several years, making a meaningful impact through his service and leadership.
In 1992, Ted was the named the “Faithful Navigator Project Chairman Builder” of the 1492 Santa Maria Flagship, which participated in area parades and exhibitions.
Ted developed a passion for genealogy and started to explore his family tree which in turn led him and Dorothy to travel to Czechoslovakia, the “Czech Republic.” They became lifetime friends with some of their distant relatives in the Czech Republic.
Ted loved to read and he had a great idea that became an even bigger plan. In 2007, Ted authored and had published a family book called the John and Frances (Babicova) Kaspar, “The Kaspars That Owned a Horse”, Czechlands to Texas.
Ted was a born leader and a shining light at his Kaspar Family Reunions and loved sharing all that he learned from tracing the Kaspar family tree. Ted and Dorothy were members of various groups: Texas Heritage Society of Texas, Fort Bend Chapter, the Czech Texas Heritage and Cultural Center “TCHCC “Museum of La Grange, Texas and the Texas Czech Genealogical Society; all of which they made many lasting friendships.
Ted is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kaspar and their children, Kenneth Kaspar of Brazoria, Texas, Carol and Mark Taylor of Kingwood, Texas, Terry and Shelley Kaspar of Magnolia, Texas, and Curtis Kaspar of Brazoria, Texas, grandchildren, Craig Kasper (Janee), Kyle Taylor (Skyler), Zachary Kaspar (Laura), Kolton Kaspar, Karch Kasper, Kaley Kaspar and Lauren Jones (Steven) and great grandchildren, Noah Kaspar, Knox Kaspar, Eleanor (Ella) Taylor, Jack Taylor, Samel Jones, Theodore (Theo) Kaspar, and Lillian Kaspar who will miss his constant involvement in their lives and the wisdom and counsel he shared with them always.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Julie Kaspar and his brother Jerome Kaspar.
All Services will be at St Josephs Catholic Church in Brazoria, Texas on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Rosary will start at 10:45 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at Brazoria Cemetery in Brazoria, TX at 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Craig Kaspar, Kyle Taylor, Zachary Kaspar, Kolton Kaspar, Karch Kaspar and Steven Jones.
