Stephen Dale “Steve” Meyer, a devoted husband, father, accomplished Naval officer and analytical chemist, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy defined by family, service, intellect, and quiet strength.
Born January 20, 1953 in Niagara Falls, New York, Steve lived a life shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a deep sense of purpose. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve for nearly three decades, rising to the rank of Commander.
Steve’s Naval service took him around the USA and the world, first in active duty in stealth submarines and later as a reservist supporting intelligence operations.
In his civilian career, as a Senior Analytical Chemist at 3M, he developed coatings and analyzed ingredients for new products, and as a Chemist in the Air and Emissions Laboratory at Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. He held both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Steve was a loving father and grandfather. He had a love for the outdoors enjoying hunting, golfing, fishing, woodworking, cooking and reading.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Calista Carr and Teghan Hahn; his stepdaughters, Destiny Matthews and Ryan Whitley; and his grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Doiron, Henry, and Junë; brothers Doug Meyer and Gregg Meyer, and sister Sue Smith.
