Shirley Reed Obituary

On January 17, 1959, a beautiful baby girl was born to Charlie Mack Thomas, Sr. and Dorothy Bam Williams Thomas in West Columbia, Texas whom they named Shirley. Shirley was reared by L.C. Thomas and Katherine Joiner.

Shirley grew up in West Columbia and worked as a Chef for over 30 Years at Columbia Lakes in West Columbia and at various hotels in the area. She enjoyed playing dominoes, shooting pool and spending quiet moments by the water. Shirley also loved her fur babies: dogs – Benson, Lotous, Nila and cat – Lucy.

She met the love of her life, Thomas, while they were cooking Banana Foster together. They had a blessed and wonderful marriage. They enjoyed cooking and traveling together. During the holidays, they would open their home to friends and family to enjoy laughter, love, food and fellowship.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Thomas and Dorothy Thomas; L.C. Thomas; sisters, Linda Carol Thomas and Loretta Lemons.

Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband of 23 years, Thomas Reed, West Columbia; Special Mom, Katherine Joiner; Sisters, Ester Mae McDonald, Sugarland, Wanda Faye Gee, Sweeny, Clara Bell, Brazoria, Bobbie Jean Mack, Houston; Brothers, Charlie Mack Thomas Jr., Earl Thomas (Desiree), Michael Lynn Thomas, all of West Columbia, Jessie Thomas, Angleton; Brother-in law, Bill Reed (Donna), Melbourne, FL; Sister-in-law, Cyndie Reed (Sean), Lexington, MA; Godchild, Jarrett Donley, West Columbia; Good Friends, Samantha, Dorian and Fannie Bellard, and a host of other relatives and friends.
