Graveside services for Sharon Owens, 68, of Richwood will be Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Bowden Cemetery in Hungerford, TX with Rev. Charles Gilford officiating.
She passed away on August 23, 2021 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Sharon was a member of Center Union Baptist Church and was under watch care at First United Missionary Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family. She was an educator and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Prairie View A&M University.
She was preceded in death by the mother who raised her, Girther Lee Jackson and her biological mother, Currie Lee Harrison; brothers, Mikel Joe Simmons, Donnie Harrison, Kenneth Harrison and Joseph Harrison; sisters, Gwendolyn Diane Campbell, Kay Phillips, Melanie Fay Simmons, and Shirley Harrison; uncles, Willie Simmons, Sr., L. E. Simmons, and Benny Simmons; aunts, Lee Anna Simmons and Ola Ree Reeves; and best friend, Cheryl Hayes.
She leaves precious memories with her husband, Archie Owens, Jr. of Richwood; sons, Herschel Owens of Richwood, and Sharrard Owens (Adriene) of Richmond; daughters, Ashley Owens of Richwood, Josie Jackson of Wharton, Charron Allen (Dwayne) of Richmond, and Yolonda Owens of Hungerford; god daughter, Antoinette Walwyn (C. G.) of Florida; sisters, Tina Harrison, Barbara Bradford (Shadrick), Rosalie Fredrick (Ike), Katrina Harrison, of Houston and Wilma Dickerson (Clint) of Hungerford; brothers, Larry Harrison and Bobby Simmons (Eddie) of Houston; cousin, Willie Lee Franklin of Bay City; and a host of grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herschel Owens, Sharrard Owens, Stanley Roy Moses, and Julius Johnson-Perez, James Moses, and David Laws.
Visitation will be Thursday, August. 26, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX.
