Sarah Mae (Woodard) Rice

Funeral services for Sarah Mae Rice, 78, of Houston, will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Brazoria, TX with Pastor G. R. Holland officiating and Minister David Michael Taylor eulogizing.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Brazoria TX.

Sarah passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2025 in Houston, TX.

She was an Event Coordinator and she sang with the Joyful Singers for 20 years.  She was also a member of Children are Our Future Scholarship Fund and Save the Children Charity.  She was a successful business woman/entrepreneur, an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed decorating, art, sculpting, antiquing, flower arranging, singing and fashion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward Woodard, Sr. and Mary Woodard; sister, Marie Woodard and brother, Ward Woodard, Jr.

Sarah leaves loving memories with husband of 56 years, Edgar L. Rice IV, Houston; daughters, Consuella Nicole Taylor (David) and Ursula Deon Rice (Larry Evans) both of Linden, TX; son, Edgar Lorenzo Rice V (Andrea), Houston; sisters, Mary Pierce and Catherine Keys, both of Angleton, Liz Bates (Alvin), Freeport, Elnora Jefferson (Ricky), Fresno; brothers, Jeremiah Woodard (Mary), Brazoria, Larry Woodard (Karen), Angleton;  7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Vannon Chapman, Steven Chapman, Cedric Woodard, Ricky Jefferson, Jr., Erik Jefferson, Marcus Keys, Brian Keys, Jeremy Woodard, Dwayne Woodard and Ricky Woodard.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton.
