Homegoing celebration for Ruby Sweeny Washington, 76, of Old Ocean will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.at Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria with Apostle R.L. Simmons, Jr. officiant and Rev. Dr. Lionel Sweeny eulogist.
She passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 63-64. She was a caretaker to everyone that has crossed her path. She was a dedicated mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and friend. She always had an open-door policy and left a legacy of being nurturing and compassionate but truthful and stern. She was strong-willed and willing to love you into life and correct you into a better version of yourself.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her children; Ida Bell (Gerald), Terikka Faciane (Michael), Cuney Woodard (Yolanda), Raymond Woods (Cassandra), Clarence Woods (Nikki), Kelvin Woods, Doleska Filer, Eddie Filer, Jr. (Patricia), Lorna Winston Banks (Duane) and Ywanda Jackson (Derald); a special child, Mr. Pete; godchildren, Derek Davis and Raymond Simmons, Jr. (Deborah); brother, Williams Sweeny, 27 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
