Roscoe Anderson Obituary

Roscoe Anderson

A Celebration of Life Service for Roscoe Anderson, 68, of Cedar Lane, TX will be held Saturday December 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.

Roscoe transitioned into eternal rest November 24th 2022, at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, after enduring complications from chronic illnesses. His family vigilantly kept at his bed-side surrounding him with love and affection.

Roscoe graduated from Bay City High School. Shortly thereafter, he began working for Gulf Chemical & Metallurgical Corporation, where he was a faithful employee for 23 years. Over the years he owned and operated several businesses including Anderson's Grass Service. “Cuz” “Skoe” or “Skoety”(as he was affectionately known) possessed many gifts and talents, he could build and repair anything and he did, starting with his own home. He continued for many years building everything he owned, a firework business, a sno-cone business and much more. He was also an excellent mechanic.

In his prime he spent much of his days cooking, hunting, shrimping, planting, welding, enjoying livestock and FISHING! His favorite hobby of all-time was FISHING on the beach in Sargent, listening to the “Blues.” He had a passion for rhythm and blues, and could play a harmonica with expertise.

He was a man who challenged himself, whether by tradition or his own unique way, he lived a life well accomplished. He was a true Renaissance Man or Jack-of-all-trades. Roscoe “Cuz” Anderson had an extremely genuine, loving heart. He cared about people, and would help anyone. His brilliant spirit was very well-known from Bell Bottom to Houston and beyond.

His greatest treasure was his children, having had a special bond with each of them. He gracefully equipped them with a wealth of Love, Lessons, Knowledge, and Wisdom. He was much more than just a Father to his children, he was their guiding force, their anchor, and their refuge. The love he gave his children was immeasurable. By his presence alone, he gave his children everything. John 5:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my words and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

Roscoe Anderson was saved, and was a victorious man! He is survived by his sweet, beautiful, intelligent baby girl, Annette Michelle Isley(10). God renewed his strength with the gift of “Nette-Nette.” She became the center of his world, everything he said and did, was about Annette and for Annette. He loved his baby with everything in him, and she loved him right back. He took great care to make sure she had everything she needed and wanted, and patiently taught her well. Being gifted with Annette later in life, she was his pride and joy!

At some point in their lives, he spoiled each one of his children, James Henry “Poo-Poo” Roscoe Anderson (31) of Houston, Tx; Roscoe “Maine” Johnell Anderson (41) of Clute, Tx, and Vanessa “Nessa” Lasonia Anderson (44) of Angleton, TX. Roscoe was blessed to spend time with each one of his grandchildren and was immensely proud of them. Jurnee Anderson (10 months), Kaiier Anderson (2) both of Houston, TX; Grace Flow (10), Roscoe Anderson Jr. (23), Tia’ Randall (22), Tommy Randall Jr. (24) all of Angleton, TX. Roscoe leaves to cherish his two loving dutiful sisters; Diania Williams (67) of Houston, TX; Bessie Ford (65) of Clute, TX, each having comforted him at his bedside. Although Roscoe was the oldest his sisters protected him with a fierce love. They often spoke of their childhood and the mischievous pranks, Roscoe had a knack for, and would laugh like schoolchildren!

To his nieces, he was funny “Unka Roscoe” Breanna Rosborough (Jay) 32 of Katy, TX; Brittany Edward (Sam) 33 of Clute, TX; Nakia Williams (47) of Houston, Tx; Great nieces and nephew: Dejan Clay (26) of Houston, TX, and Jo’lynn Edwards (9) Clute, TX; Baby Jay Rosborough (2) of Katy, TX.

Preceding him in eternity was his father, Johnny Woodard, whom he often spoke of; mother and stepfather, Luberta and L.C. Thomas, who were his foundation, he could depend on “Mama” and loved her dearly. Special Acknowledgement and sincere gratitude to the faithful, humble servant of the Lord, Rev. Thomas “Tuck” Bree; Pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, who always brought the church to Roscoe and witnessed his confession of faith. Most Gracious thank you, Rev. Bree and Mr. Michael Willis who was a genuine friend who Roscoe respected, loved, and trusted. Roscoe had many that held a special place in his heart, just to name a few, Carolyn Tims and family, Jackie Bree and family, Dolores Richardson and family, the list is endless.

To ALL the Communities of Bell Bottom, Mims, and Magnolia, many of whom Roscoe referred to as his sisters and brothers, bless you for your care and concern throughout the years, and thank you for your calls, prayers, and condolences at this time. We hold near every story, every memory, every kind word and especially every prayer and we thank you with all our hearts. Proverbs 17:6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
