Funeral services for Robert Kendall Brown, 55, of Stafford will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Hope Church – Pearland, 4209 Broadway Street, Pearland, TX at 10:00 a.m. with Superintendent W. L. Hennesy officiating and Minister Glenn Reaves eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens.

Deputy Robert Kendall Brown was born to Evangelist Ruby Lee Williams and Robert Lee Bess in Freeport, Texas on January 20, 1969. He learned to appreciate hard work and skillfulness from his beloved stepfather, Pastor Samuel A. Williams, Sr. as he worked side-by-side with him to always “Stand for something or you’ll fall for anything!”  His athletic ability and intrinsic motivation for success propelled him to earn varsity letters in several at the West Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas where he was a graduate of the class of 1987.  He earned a Division I athletic scholarship joining his big brother Michael Brown on the baseball diamond at the Prairie View A & M University. Robert, along with three other gentlemen became brothers as one of the Fraternal Order of Classy Gentlemen: Sigma Rhomeo Incorporated on the campus of Prairie View A&M University in the Spring Semester of 1988. Ever the competitive athlete he took on the challenge to continue to showcase his multitalented abilities as joined the Houston Gunners semi-pro football team as a running back. After college he began his career in law enforcement with the Texas Department of Correction as a guard and later joined the Brazoria County Sheriff’s department. The highlight of his career began in 2000 when he joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Department where he enjoyed 24 years of dedicated service with colleagues he viewed as family.   

Rob enjoyed football tailgating and had a season pass for the Texan games.  He also enjoyed Fantasy Football, video games and spending time with family. He loved to travelling and experiencing all of God’s creation. He was a member of Hope Church Pearland.

He leaves precious memories with his father; Robert Lee Bess (Melba); girlfriend, Tacharra Laury; son, Dauntay Brown (Olycia); daughter, Morgan Brown; sisters, Marion Hill (John), Dr. Melissa Earls (Dana), Armentha Williams, Sharon Brown (Joe), Louella Williams; brothers, Micheal Brown, Greg Williams (Tamara Johnson), Roshaun Bess, Keith Bess, Robbie Bess; friends, Mike D. Randon, Kevin Davis, Charles Foster; 2 grandchildren, Legacy Brown, Jaiden Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Evangelist Ruby Lee Williams, stepfather, Pastor Samuel A. Williams, Sr., brother Samuel A. Williams, Jr. and best-friend Craig Bryant. 

Pallbearers will be Rawlstan Decoteau Jr., Kevin Davis, Johnnie Thompson Jr., Roshaun Bess, Mitchell Bolden and Roger Brown.

Visitation will be same day as service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
