Funeral services for Raymond Lee Simmons, Sr., 82, of Angleton, TX, will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at Greater Mt. Zion Church in Brazoria, TX, with Elder James Simmons officiating and Apostle Raymond L. Simmons, Jr. eulogizing. Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.
Raymond Lee Simmons, Sr., passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Sugarland, TX.
Raymond was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elijah Simmons; mother, Pearline Johnson; and brother Clifton Simmons.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years, Judie Ann Simmons; sons, Brian D. Simmons (Elana) of Angleton, TX, Brandon K. Simmons (Alexis) of Missouri City, TX, Ray “Buba” Simmons, Raymond L Simmons, Jr. (Deborah) of Houston, TX, Fredrick D. Austin (Michelle) of Bay City, TX; Godson, Devin Jackson of Houston, TX; daughter, Latrica Johnson of Conroe; Goddaughters Tiffeni L. Edwards (Kris) of Lake Jackson, TX, and Domonique Williams of Houston, TX; sisters Jacqueline L. Garrett (Roderick) of Mongomery, TX, Mamie Myles of Brazoria, TX; brothers Elijah Simmons III of Brazoria, TX and General Crecy (Helen) of Brazoria, TX; best friends, Hubert Brown, Willie Bell, Pen Johnson, and Ellis Ray Hall; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Active Pallbearers will be Devante Johnson, Cedric Smith, Damonric Smith, Pendleton Johnson, Roy Sparks, and Andrew Foston.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
