Philip Byron Oakes was born July 7, 1955, in Tulsa OK, to Billy Dean and Anna Oakes. Phillip died March 11, 2018, at his family home in Lake Jackson, Texas.
Phillip was a writer and a poet. He had two published works and was most recently working on his third book of poetry. In his “other life,” he was a title insuranc researcher and analyst, and for over the past year, he was the primary caretaker of his parents.
He will be missed dearly by his loved ones and friends, who will remember his amazing intelligence, his hilarious dry wit, his ability to love deeply and unconditionally, and his quiet yet strong manner.
Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Billy Dean and Anna; his son Ryan and wife, Donna; his daughter Lara and husband, Matthew; his brother Robin and wife, Dianna; his grandchildren, Kaylie, Caiden, Joseph, Ivree, Lily, Zerylynn, Alex and Joaquin; his nieces and nephews Jason, Adrian, Shauna, Jody and many others who have blessed Robin and Dianna’s home. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Deborah Kay Suggs, and his brother- and sister-in-law, John and Cindy Suggs. Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Phillip’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m.
