Nelda Jean Roberts

Nelda Jean Roberts, 81, of Houston, TX., passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, in a Houston hospital following a brain injury.

Nelda was born February 28, 1943, to Homer L. Roberts and Rivie Seely Roberts. She grew up in Clute and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1961.

Following High School, she attended the University of Houston, receiving her bachelor’s degree in education; then continued her education at Sam Houston University, earning her master’s degree.

Nelda was an elementary school teacher for many years. She could also be found working at Foley’s, and the Astrodome.  Nelda later worked at the Houston Natural Science Museum where she spent her days meeting new people, especially talking to them, and helping them find significant exhibits.

She was intrigued with genealogy and spent endless hours tracing her relatives, many back to their arrival in America from England.

Nelda loved spending time with “The Clute Girls;” a group of ladies who all grew up in Clute and graduated from Brazosport Hight School who continue getting together for lunch and during the holidays.

Nelda was a baptized in the Chapelwood Methodist Church in Clute, and her relationship with Christ continued to grow and deepen as her faith in Christ matured as years passed.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her brother, Homer Lee “Buddy” Roberts, Jr., of Columbia, TN; cousin, Dennis Seely of Grand Prairie, TX; several good friends, including Janice Barnes and The Clute Girls, along with a host of cousins and other relatives around Texas.

Graveside Services will be Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, TX with Dennis Seely officiating.
