Maudie Ruth Swist

Funeral services for Maudie Ruth Swist, 88, of Bay City will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Jonas Brinkley officiating and Rev. Thomas Swist, Jr. eulogizing.

She passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Texas.

She enjoyed cooking, singing and baking. She loved watching price is right, wheel of fortune and drinking sanka coffee. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories; son, Rev. Thomas Swist, Jr. (Joyce), Bay City; daughters, Genora Elaine Kemp (Robert), Sweeny and Edna Ruth Swist, Houston; sister, Betty Jean Hatter, Houston; godson, Quentin La’Keith Roberson (Toni), San Antonio; grandchildren, Marlon L. Swist, Sr., Bay City, Thomas D. Swist (Keyona), Austin, Dustin J. Kemp, College Station, Robert T. Kemp, Okinawa, Japan and Alachia N. Kemp, Sweeny; great grandchildren, Marlon, Marshon, Tre’Von, Kenan, Tya and Ki’Yan; sister-in-law, Betty Stevenson, Freeport; other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Marlon Swist, Sr., Thomas D. Swist, Dustin J. Kemp, Quentin L. Roberson, Robert L. Kemp and Jordan Jeanlouis.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
