Matthew Nakia Herron, 49, of Brazoria, TX, earned his wings on July 6, 2024 surrounded by his wife, children and mother.
Matt was funny, opinionated and as strong as he was stubborn. He came off hard, but had a soft side he saved for a chosen few. He loved his family fiercely and they will honor him by loving each other just as fiercely as he did.
He was preceded in death by his 3 heavenly babies; 1 heavenly grandchild; his mother-in-love, Linda; niece, Shelbie; sister, Chrissy and his grandparents.
Matt is survived by the love of his life and his wife of 33 years, Johnetta Herron; his three children, Nakia Black (James), Blake Herron (Lexi) and Alyssa Herron; his three grandsons, James Jr., Noah and Gunner; his mother, Darlene Herron-Douglas; Father-in-love, John Young and many siblings, some by blood, some by love as well as many nieces, nephews, bonus kids and bonus grandkids.
Matthew (Stone) was born in Lancaster, OH, on January 8, 1975. He grew up in Texas and then bounced between OH and TX as a young adult. Matt was a truck driver and traveled the States for 20+ years before settling in Brazoria and working at D&L Propane. Matt was a firefighter with Rivers End Volunteer Fire Department, where he was also the Chairman. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, woodworking, fishing, hunting, watching football and NASCAR but his greatest joy in life was his wife, children and grandchildren.
Matt's Celebration of Life will be held at New Shores Church in Sweeny on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. The family invites you to join them for one last ride in Matt's honor from Rivers End Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1, to the church. They will be leaving at 10 a.m. All vehicles are welcome. Dress is very casual; the family wishes to celebrate his life the way he lived it. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help rebuild after also losing their home to Hurricane Beryl. They have a gofund me fundraiser going. https://gofund.me/8978166a
John 11:25-26 ~ Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die."
Final arrangements entrusted to Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria at (979)798-9113.
