“Mary Jane”
A Celebration of Life for Mary Jane Brookins, 67, of Clute, TX will be Saturday, April 17, 2021 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1615 Skinner Street in Freeport, TX at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. R. L. Washington, Sr. officiating. She passed away on Monday, April 12 at St. Luke’s Health – Sugar Land Hospital in Sugar Land, TX.
She was a member of Kingdom Konnection Ministries. She was active in Cadeflaw and was an Antidefamation Legacy Law advocate. She received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Brazosport College, obtained a certification in vocational nursing and a diploma of Theology at Tennessee School of Religion. She was also a former LPN. She enjoyed music, dancing, debating, reading, and ministry work.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Brookins, Jr.
She leaves precious memories with daughters, Brandi McFarland (Melvin III) of Houston, TX, Miranda Millender (Kenny Harris) of Houston, and Robin Brookins of Clute, TX; sisters, Stephanie Bernard and Shirley Crear both of Moss Point, MS; brothers, Artis Knox of Clute, TX and Johnnie Knox of Moss Point, MS; best friends Gladdis Jones and Rodrick Washington, Sr.; special nephew, Edward Knox (Tracy); six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Artis Knox, Johnnie Knox, Edward Knox, Jaylen Brookins, Jamerian Brookins, Melvin McFarland, and Terrence Gore.
Visitation will be Friday, April 16, 2021 at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 East Mulberry, Angleton, TX from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
A limited capacity of 100 is allowable at the church.
