Lettie Mae Ferguson

Funeral Services for Lettie Mae Ferguson, 90, of Texas City will be Monday, February 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, TX. with Rev. Ralph Martin, officiating and Pastor Arthur Ferguson, Jr., eulogizing. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, TX.

She passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, TX.

Lettie was a longtime employee of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. She retired from UTMB and joined the Galveston ISD School Health Department as well as the Special Education Department from which she retired.

She was a member of the Zeta Amica Social/Charity Club. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Paul Felder A.M.E Church. Lettie was a member of various A.M.E Churches and served under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Arthur Ferguson Jr. where she was a member of the Stewardess Board at Primm Chapel, Reedy Chapel, Clear Lake A.M.E, and St. Paul A.M.E Church, West Columbia.

Lettie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ada Johnson; husband, Arthur Ferguson Sr.; daughter, Maxine Ferguson, sisters, Lillian Johnson and Lola Johnson, brothers, Leo Johnson and Earl Johnson; Nephew, Clarence Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Rev. Arthur Ferguson Jr. (Debra), La Marque, TX; daughters, Mae E. Childs, Texas City, TX and  Lettie Young (Johnny Ray), Texas City, TX; brother, Earl Johnson, Jr. (Vickie); 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her church family and devoted friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Ronald Thomas, Leon McGlocton, Samuel Childs Jr., Corey Johnson, Joe Williams and Jamaal Young.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Wilkes, Kerry Jones and Johnny Young.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX and also on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
