Funeral services for Kenya James, 33, of West Columbia will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.at First Baptist Church of Brazoria Rev. Lernette Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary AME Cemetery in Danciger, TX.
Kenya Denise James gained her heavenly wings and went on home to be with The Lord at her residence on August 20, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.
Kenya grew up in the Danciger community near family and close friends. She then moved to West Columbia, TX, and she was a proud graduate from Columbia High School C/O 2010.Some of Kenya’s past time and hobbies included riding around, listening to her father sing and listening to country music. She also enjoyed spending time with all her family, taking vacations, going to church, getting dressed up and most of all how she looked after her hair was done. Although she was nonverbal her feistiness and fierceness still shunned through.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Brown; grandfather, Freddie James, Sr.; uncles, Willie D. James, Freddie James, Jr. and Simuel Thomas; aunts, Audrey Dell Viola Saddler and Jearlean Booker.
Kenya leaves to cherish her memories; her mother Lillie Brown, West Columbia,TX sisters; Charlotte Brown, West Columbia, TX , Sheletha (Lisa) Brown, Houston, TX, Kimberly James, West Columbia, TX Ashley Brown-Dorsey (Gavin) Rosharon,TX ; grandmother, Lillie James (Danciger); special siblings: Roderick James Sr. (Monikil) Sweeny, TX, Terry Bryant Sr. (Julie) Danciger, TX, Shaneqwea James, Round Rock, TX aunts Dorothy Bryant (Milton Sr.), Sandra McLeod (Roger), uncles Elijah James (Matilda), Terry James, California, Travis Davis (Helen) Houston, Roy Phillips (Sylvia) Katy and a host of nieces, nephews, a great niece, a great nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends
Active pallbearers will be De’Adrian James, Terry Bryant Sr., Milton Bryant, Jr., Gavin Brown-Dorsey, Montray Davis and Phillip Henderson Sr.
Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton.
Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
