Johnnie Thompson, Sr.

Funeral services for Johnnie “Rip” Thompson Sr., 93, of Brazoria, will be Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 1211 S. Brooks Street, Brazoria Texas, with Apostle R. L. Simmons Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery.

Johnnie passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Rip was a loving father to his son Johnnie Thompson Jr.  He enjoyed fishing, and working on cars.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his father, Amos Thompson; mother, Lou Berta Thompson; brothers, Frank Thompson, and Willie Thompson; sisters, Ruby Bryant, Nancy Evans, Tennessee Brown, Mary Evans, and Naomi Thompson.

Rip leaves cherished memories with his son, Johnnie Thompson Jr. (Latasha); sisters, Donna Ellis, and Zelma Perry; grandchildren, Jamyra Smith, Jalen Smith, Ja’Keem Smith; five great grandchildren; good friend, R.L. Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be George Stroman, Lawrence Steamer, Labradford Williams, Onrae Lemons,  Bryan Smith and Anton Thomas

Honorary pallbearers are Johnnie Thompson, Jr. and Clarence Brown, Jr.

Visitation will be same day of service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
