A Celebration of life for John Henry Vasser, 82, of Angleton will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church Community Development Center, 523 North Parrish, Angleton with Rev. Gerald Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.
He passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at UTMB Health in Angleton.
John was a volunteer bus driver for FMBC of Angleton. He also drove for the Brazoria County Head Start Program. He was a truck driver and contractor for Dow Chemical Plant. He enjoyed going places with Seniors On The Move, hunting, fishing, and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his father, Murphy Vassar Sr.; mother, Earma Lee Vassar; bonus mother, Della Bee Powell; grandfather, William Brown; grandmother, Mariah Brown Crump; brothers, Charles Vassar Sr. and Lemuel Vasser; sister, Alice Boyd (Jessie); daughter, Michelle Lynn Vasser; and son, Leslie Vasser.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, John Henry Vasser Jr. of Memphis, TN and Kevin Arthur Vasser of Houston, TX; daughter, Christine Thomas (Oventon) of Houston, TX; goddaughter, Gloria A. Robinson of Angleton, TX; brother, Murphy Vassar (Annice) of Aberdeen, MS; sister, Shirley Bryant of Kemah, TX; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Overton Thomas, Kendrick Thomas, Dea. Renard Thomas, Dea. Darnell Mack, Dea. Leonard Carter and Dea. Bill Willis
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the same day as the service.
Due to COVID, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
