Funeral services for John Henry Alston Jr., 77, of Freeport will be Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Dr. Sandy K. White officiating and Dr. Charles D. Roberson eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria

John passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at his home in Freeport surrounded by his loving family.

He was a retired Dow Pipe Welder and loved working on cars, racing cars and riding motorcycles.  He served as an esteemed and faithful Deacon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Alston Sr.; mother, Della Skipper; son, Rayshaun Randon; brothers, Johnnie Lee Alston and Orlando Alston Sr.; sisters, Julie Miller and Melinda Alston; brother in-laws, Andrus Edwards and Marshall Thorpe; sister in-laws, Edna Ward Strauther and Muriel Skipper; best friend, Abraham Brown.

John leaves cherished memories with his wife, Jeanetta Alston, Freeport; daughters, Cynthia Alston, Angleton, Christina Alston Hurd (Michael), Angleton, Amber Randon, Fresno, Shamarria Alston, Freeport; brothers, Wallace Skipper, Corsicana, Robert Alston Sr. (Sandra), Sweeny, Babe R. Alston (Theresa), Brazoria, and Willie Skipper, Townsend, GA; sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Clute, Delores Sanders (Dennis), California, Josephine Wilson-Townsend (Benjamin), Eldrew Thompson, Jewel Thorpe, Angie Reed (Floyd), Johnie Mae Alston, Lizzie Skipper and Jeanette Anderson (Issac), all of Townsend, GA; brother in-law, Joseph Miller, Hillsboro, GA; sister in-law, Donetta Alston, Freeport; best friends, Johnny Greer and Roy Boniaby, both of Freeport; grandchildren, Miranda Hurd and Madelyn Hurd and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Robert Alston Jr., Orlando Alston Jr., Tremaine Alston Jr., Floyd Reed Jr., Leonard McAfee, Johnathan Wilson and James Heard.

Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home – Angleton.
