John William Hanna went home to his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Johnnie, as he was known to friends and family was born May 10, 1950 in Bay City, TX to Buster and Margaret Hanna. Johnnie grew up in Sweeny, Texas where he graduated high school in 1969. He attended Wharton County Jr. College and shortly thereafter decided to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served proudly in Thailand from 1971-1973.
He married and started a family with his wife, Frances Pursley, in 1974. He worked for Phillips for 37 years as a machinist and provided a good life for his family.
He is survived by his beloved ex-wife, Frances Hanna; daughter, Toya Leigh White; son, Joshua and Shannon Hanna; his grandchildren, Violet and Jared Grimm, Demic Caeum and Toby, Ashton Hanna, Morgan Hanna and Nicholas Cassady; great grandson, Kendrick Ray Hanna; sisters, Tyra Hanna, Karen Hanna and Tracy Linscombe; brother, Mark and Brenda Hanna and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Margaret Hanna; granddaughter, Madison Leigh Cassady; big brother, Butch Hanna and nephew, Baby Lane.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Hanna, Demic Caeum, Morgan Hanna, Shep Clark, Will Hanna and Eric Lane.
Honorary pallbearers will be Violet Grimm, P.T. Brunner, Lamar Qualls, Matthew Cassady and Nicholas Cassady.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
