Funeral services for Joe Steryling Williams, 63, of Brazoria will be Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Mount Zion Church, 6437 FM 521, Brazoria, Texas with Pastor L.C. Dews officiating and Pastor Authur Ferguson eulogizing. Burial will be at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.
Joe was a Pastor Steward Pro Tem at St. Paul A.M.E. Church West Columbia, Texas. Board member of the (TWA) Texas Water Association, becoming Superintendent at Velasco Drainage District to complete pump station project. He was a man with many, many, visions and commitments.
He enjoyed spending time with his 4 granddaughters, his family and friends, working on his family ranch and he loved to barbecue. He never met a stranger. He would uplift and encourage everyone he met. He will always be remembered as the man with the Golden Heart who followed the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". His treatment of people with kindness, respect and compassion will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse James and Virginia Williams Diggs; grandparents, Filmore and Ida Lee Williams; great aunt, Willie Mae Carter; aunt, Betty Jean Wilkes; uncles, Filmore Williams, Jr., Theople “Sonny” Williams and Herman Ray “Baby Boy” Williams; cousins, Jessie Faye Mack and Danny Maurice Fomby.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ethel Williams, Brazoria; sons, Brandon Williams (Kaysha), Brazoria/Louisiana and Jeremy Williams (Gabrielle), West Columbia; sisters, Connie Phillips, Margo Diggs, and Viva Carson, all of Houston; aunt, Truever Williams, West Columbia; uncles, Edward Wilkes, West Columbia, Jerry Lee Williams, Liberty, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Steve Taylor, Melvin Johson, Ralph Goodwin. Greg Prihoda, Juan Figueroa and John “Buster” East, III.
Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
