Funeral Services for Joe Earl Jones, Sr., 67, of Freeport, TX will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Southside Church of Christ, 802 West 5th Street in Freeport, TX with Brother Lawrence Richo, officiating.  Burial will follow at Gulf Coast Cemetery in Clute, TX.

He passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at CHI St. Luke’s Health – Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Joe was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Freeport, TX.  He loved going to church, singing, and reading his bible.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Savannah and Joe Amzie Jones; sisters, Josephine Holman, Mary Frank and Louvenia Gibson; brothers, James Gibson (Betty), Eartha Lee Gibson, Eugene Gibson (Beale), Dan Gibson and Walter James Gibson.

Joe leaves precious memories with his wife, Pearl M. Jones of Freeport; sons, Joe Earl Jones, Jr. of Houston and Jarrell Taylor of Freeport; daughters, Jerushah Brown of San Antonie, Sharonda and Shelonda Jones, both of Houston, Stephanie Jones of Freeport, and Jessica Wells  (Jacob) of Dallas; sisters, Linda Malonson (Robert) of Rosenberg, Callie Boxley (Kelvin) of Memphis, Ella Gibson of Houston, and Azalean Shockley of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Ronald Jackson, Genesis Roberson, Lester Jordan, Jr., Joshua Sweatt, Brandon Johnson and Jeffrey Fuller.

Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 East Mulberry, Angleton, TX.  A walk-by viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Southside Church of Christ on Saturday, March 13, 2021 prior to the service.

The service is limited to 100 attendees.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
