Joe Louis Harris

Funeral services for Joe Louis Harris, 88, of Houston, TX, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 29309 County Road 610, Angleton, TX, with Rev. Michael Maxie officiating and Pastor Joseph L. Mayes eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.

Joe passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

He was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

He enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and playing dominoes.  

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Robbie Harris, Jr., mother, Rebecca Evans Harris and daughter, Janette Harris.

He leaves behind precious memories with his devoted and loving wife of 68 years,  Mayme Laverne Harris of Houston; devoted and loving daughter, Janet L. Fields (Jarrett Martin, Sr.) of Missouri City; sister, Mary Bumbrey of Woodbridge, Virginia; Godchildren, Shante Pritchard, Myron Jackson, David Conaway, Cedric Wilson, John Jackson and Jeremy Jackson; sister-in-law, Marie Diggs; brothers-in-law, Robert Jackson, Emery Jackson and Alexander Jackson (Helen); devoted caregivers, Annette “Sister” Jefferson, Hattie Blacknell and Gerlean Felder; foster grandchildren, Jarrett Martin, Jr., Cedric Martin, Mylah Wilson and Nikisha Ephran along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Jarrett Martin, Jr., Cedric Martin, Rodney Jackson, Sr., Alex Wilson, Derrick Jackson, Sr. and Jason Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Visitation will be same day as service from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
