Janice Lynn Wasek (Russell), of Brazoria, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on May 13, 1961.
Janice and her husband, Kenneth “Ken” Wasek Sr., were sweethearts from a young age. Together they shared 46 years of marriage and a life built on deep devotion, family, and countless memories.
Janice was the proud mother of Kenneth Wasek Jr. and his wife Jerilyn, and Brandi Lynn Wasek-Patterson and her husband Byron Patterson. She was a loving grandmother to Kelly Wasek, Makenna Wasek, Lauren Maynard, and Grace Maynard, and a great-grandmother to Emiliano Romero.
Janice found joy in the simple things, especially life on the river, and the peaceful moments of fishing and being outdoors. She had a special gift for making friends wherever she went. It was often said that everyone loved Janice, and her warmth left a lasting impression on those she met.
She loved her sisters deeply. She is survived by her sisters, Jimmie Cay Dudley, Tina Lincecum, Debbie Brigance, and Pam Wleczyk, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her father Jimmie Clyde Russell, her mother Evelyn Allegar, her stepmother Jackie Russell, her stepfather Bruce Allegar, her parents-in-law Leo and Erma Wasek, her brother Otis Hurt, and her nephew George “Beau” Maraist.
A graveside service for the family was held in Brazoria, Texas, on February 16, 2026. The family invites you all to a celebration of life, at a later date.
Janice will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her gentle presence, and the love that connected her to those closest to her.
