Funeral services for Jade McKissic, 20, of Houston will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, 3826 Wheeler Avenue, Houston, TX with Dr. Marcus Cosby, officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.
Jade was a vibrant, intelligent, and creative soul who left an indelible imprint on the hearts and lives of all who knew her. She graduated with honors in the top ten percent of her class at Spring High School in 2023.
Jade was an honors student and an active member of the university community at the University of Houston (Main Campus), where she was majoring in strategic communications and advertising with the UH Jack Valenti School of Communications. She was a student worker for UH Student Housing & Residential Life and was part of the UH Orientation Team where she was a Student Orientation Leader.
Jade had an incredible array of talents, including playing guitar, drums, and singing. She was a gifted artist who could draw, paint, photograph, and write in different calligraphy styles. Her love for music extended to singing gospel and praise songs with her family. Her wit, intelligence, and love for solving riddles were ever-present, as was her natural ability to organize anything and everything. She loved God and she was an active member in the Church.
Above all, Jade was a kind-hearted and caring person, always willing to help those in need. Whether she was spending quality time with her family—traveling, creating art, playing board games, or laughing together—or lending a helping hand to a friend, Jade's compassionate spirit shone brightly.
Left to cherish Jade’s memory are her loving parents, Kirven and Treva McKissic; her grandparents, Hentze McKissic (grandfather), Jo Anne McKissic (grandmother), Suethel Harris (grandmother), and Marvin Harris (step-grandfather); and her uncles, Kendrick (Chasiti) McKissic, Marvin Harris, Jr., and Bradley Harris; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
Jade’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and the beauty of creativity. Her smile lit up any room, and her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her. A true shining gem, Jade will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Active Pallbearers will be Marcel McKissic, Cayle Hurd, John “Jay” Mouton, Channing Jackson, Justin Baylor, Derrick Jackson, Jr., Jacolby Joseph and Jeff “’Jay” Woodard, Jr.
Visitation will be same day as the service from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Services will be livestreamed at https://wheelerbc.org/live-streaming when the service starts.
Final arrangements entrusted to Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria (979) 798-9113.
