Funeral Services for Gordon Ray Johnson, 72, of Missouri City, TX, will be Monday, March 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Loving Word Fellowship, 170 Rittenhouse Street, Houston, TX with Bishop Paul Landrew, officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, TX.

He passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, TX.

Gordon attended school in West Columbia and completed his education at West Columbia High School.  He served in the Army from 1969 – 1971, and was honorably discharged with a Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device.

He worked as a Correctional Officer at the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) for 25 years, and retired in 2007.

Gordon enjoyed listening to jazz music, fishing, joy riding, and watching Sanford and Son.  He was also a Dallas Cowboy fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and those who raised him (Roosevelt and Jessie Nelson and Odie Lee Johnson).

Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Johnson; sons, Gordon Ray Johnson, II and Derrick M. Johnson; daughters, Keysha Johnson Katley and Michelle Johnson; three grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Butler, Jerry Ramsey, Lloyd Knowles, Sammy Polk, James Phillips and Felix Phillips.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 East Mulberry Street, Angleton, TX.  There will also be a visitation at Loving Word Fellowship from 9:00 a.m. – 9:55 a.m. on March 15, 2021 prior to the service.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
