Gertrude (Payne) Austin

Funeral services for Gertrude Austin, 84, of Brazoria will be Saturday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Brazoria with Pastor Mark Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery.

She passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 in Brazoria.

Gertrude was a member of Greater St Paul Baptist Church. Gertrude’s greatest joy, outside of serving the Lord, was spending time with her children, grandchildren and her loving dog, Midnight (aka “Middy”).  She also enjoyed working with her puzzles, fishing trips, watching movies and sports, and staying up to date on current events.  She has always enjoyed the outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Payne Sr. and Frances Payne; brothers, Jessie Payne Jr. and Alex Panye; sisters, Alta Mae Woodard and Rosie Lee Riggins and nephew, Greg Payne.

Gertrude leaves precious memories with her son, Kim Austin of Houston; daughters, Brigget Brown of Sweeny, Valerie Jones (Steven) of Pearland and Francis Austin of Brazoria; sisters, Theresia Green and Patricia Payne both of Brazoria; brothers, Herman Payne and Johnnie Payne both of Brazoria; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Kevin Brown, Fred Ledet, James Payne, LaWayne Brown, DaWayne Brown, and Lewis Brown.

Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2025 at Dixon Funeral Home, Brazoria from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
