Essie Mae (Diggs) Tolbert

Funeral services for Essie Mae Tolbert, 88, of West Columbia will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Blue Run Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Jones, officiating and Rev. Corey Thomas eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery in Old Ocean.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking meals for her family, cleaning and taking care of her home.

Essie leaves precious memories with her son, Harold Tolbert, Jr, (Rhonda) , Austin, TX; daughters; Ella L. King, Angleton, Shirley F. Tolbert, Richwood, Verna J. Tolbert, West Columbia, Sandra Tolbert Brown, West Columbia, Reba K. Flannel (Marvin, Sr.), Brazoria, Lorrie A. Tolbert, West Columbia; sisters, Bessie M. Stewart and Delores Ford, both of Texas City; brother, John Henry Diggs, West Columbia; brothers-in-law, Frank Tolbert (Ernestine), Phillip Tolbert, both of Sweeny; sisters-in-law, Phyllis  Simmons, Sweeny, Herma Tolbert, Eula Diggs, both of Brazoria, Toni Tolbert, Van Vleck, Marie Diggs, Angleton; best friend, Tenola Franklin; 21  grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and a host of  other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Carl Tolbert, Marvin Flannel, Jr., Jared Flannel, Sean Flannel, Roderick Tolbert and David King, Jr.

Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at Dixon Funeral Home – Brazoria from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
