Espanola (Simple) Grice

Funeral services for Espanola Grice, 88, of Brazoria, TX, will be Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 424 CR 311, Brazoria, TX with Rev. Daymond Wilkins officiating. Burial will be at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a lifelong resident of Brazoria, TX.

Espanola was an excellent cook and a devoted homemaker who lovingly cared for her husband, children, and family. Her warmth, kindness, and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Henry and Frances Helms Simple; husband, Melvin Grice, Sr.; son, Silvester Simple; daughter, Debra Ward; granddaughter, Cayla Simple; sister, Frances Thomas; and brothers, Lee Otis Simple, Sr. and Henry Simple.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Catherine Garrett (Victor) of Houston, TX, Cornell Grice (Cecile) of Brazoria, TX, Tonita Grice (Clifton) of Brazoria, TX and Christopher Grice (Jeniqua Renee) of Manvel, TX; bonus-daughter, Cleoester (Rocky) Armstrong, Bay City, Tx; sister-in-law, Rebecca Grice, Brazoria, TX. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Melvin Beasley of Clute, TX and Deborah Grice of Angleton, TX; goddaughter, Ashlee Adams of San Antonio, TX; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish her love and memory.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. 

Active Pallbearers will be Brantley Ward, Anthony Mathews, Jr., DeAndre Simple, Silvester Simple, Jr., Christopher Thomas, CJ Simple and Shawn Massey.
