Funeral services for Edith Gervaise Broaddus Weems, 83, of West Columbia, TX will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Columbia Methodist Church in West Columbia, TX.
Edith Gervaise Weems passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 in Austin, TX.
Edie was born on the Fourth of July beneath fireworks in St Louis, Missouri, to Anne Logan and Foley Broaddus. She moved around in her childhood from Missouri to Virginia to New Mexico and finally to Austin, TX, where she met the love of her life and was swept away to West Columbia. Edie started working at the family Western Auto and raising four boys. At the age of 45, Edie went back to college to complete her degree. After graduating, she worked the next 23 years as a Kindergarten School Teacher for the Angleton Independent School District.
Edie is best remembered as a poet and for the way she danced with her cowboy.

Edie is survived by her husband Mase; her siblings, Vicki, Kirk, and Julie; her sons, Mason, Foley (Dwana), Cayce and Logan (Su); her grandchildren, Anthony, Mylon (Dez), Ian, Vinn, Ezra, Iso, and Ado; and her great-grandchildren, Ai-Jae and Nootka.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
