Dorothy Jeanne (Bullock) McGaughey

Dorothy Jeanne McGaughey, 81, of Brazoria, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Chi St. Luke Health Brazosport in Lake Jackson, TX.  She was born in Abilene, TX, on December 27, 1941 to Conrad and Ruby Bullock.

Dorothy was the proud co-owner of Way Station Park in Brazoria.  She was a member of First Baptist Church Brazoria where she sang in the church choir when she was still able and attended Sunday School.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, spending time with the Lord in Bible Study and watching Star Trek.  She also loved to dance.  Dorothy loved her family with all her heart, was always ready to listen and share a kind word.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Ruby Bullock, brother, Lonnie Glenn Bullock; aunt, Johnnie Dickson and great grandchild, Katheryne Faye Russell. 

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leven McGaughey, Jr.; son, Leven McGaughey III and wife, Ruth; daughter, Tammie Russell and husband, Joe Frank; sister, Judy Boone and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Shelly Stewart and husband, Martin, Jennifer Findley and husband, Jeremy, Tommy Russell and wife, Danta, Jeremy Russell, Tiffany LeJeune and husband, Jason, Jeffery Russell and wife, Amanda and Heather Helton and husband, Michael; sister-in-law, T.J. Briggs and husband, Bill; 19 great grandchildren and her loving dogs, Maggie and Max and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Russell, Jeremy Russell, Jeffery Russell, Jeremy Findley, John Swango and Russell Henshaw.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Brazoria.  Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.
