Donna Macek-Pickle Obituary

Donna Macek Pickle of Watts, Oklahoma passed away February 6, 2024 after a long frustrating battle with COPD and pneumonia and a short fight with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

She was born December 1, 1950 to Otto and Ella Macek in Needville, TX.  After graduating High School in Brazoria, TX, Donna attended Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX where she received a degree in Business Administration and later a Business Management degree from John Brown University.

Donna married David Pickle in Brazoria on November 25, 1972 and in 1979 moved to Watts, Oklahoma to help his parents run and maintain Kamp Paddle Trails, a family-owned children’s summer camp.  She helped take care of the horses and taught horse-back riding.  She also worked at DaySprings Cards where she proofed and scheduled printing.

She attended First Baptist Church in Siloam and was very actively involved.

Donna is survived by her husband, David Pickle; niece, Shimona Slomowitz; and a host of Pickle-in-laws and Pickle nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ella Macek; sisters, Helen Macek and Mary Beth Slomowitz.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria, TX with Pastor Tracy Williams officiating.

There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
