Dolores June McCoy
September 30, 1932 – March 14, 2021
Dolores June McCoy, 88, of Brazoria died on March 14, 2021 in hospice care at Oak Village Healthcare Facility in Lake Jackson, Texas.
June was born in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Texas in the early 1950’s after marrying her one true love, Joseph Albert McCoy, at the age of 19 and after only one date! The two were married for over 40 years prior to Joe’s death in 1994.
June was a 34 year employee of Don’s/Buc-ee’s and retired at the age of 80. For those not familiar with June’s time at Buc-ee’s, you may remember her as the lady who drove the yellow Trans Am Collector’s Edition later to be replaced by a red Nissan 350z. June also had a penchant for bold rhinestone necklaces. June also loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for cats.
June is survived by her loving family, daughter Rachel and husband Benny Sanders, son Steven Joseph (Steve) McCoy, and beloved granddaughter, Lindsey Elaine Sanders, all of Brazoria.
A private family burial is planned.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers or other remembrances, that a donation of money, goods or services be made to the Brazoria County SPCA. The SPCA can be contacted at 979-285-2340 or at https://spca-brazoria.com
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the physical therapists, nurses, nurses assistants and all the many others involved in June’s care during her stay at Oak Village Healthcare Facility. Special thanks also to the hospice nurses from A*Med Home Health in Angleton, Texas.
The kindness, compassion and empathy shown to our matriarch and the family during this difficult time will never be forgotten.
Final arrangements entrusted to Dixon Funeral Home of Brazoria at (979) 798-9113
