Debra Kay Sanders, 66, of West Columbia passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 in West Columbia, Texas.

Debra was born on November 29, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas to Curtis Steadhan and Doris Bennetsen. She was not a member of one specific church, but had a very special relationship with God that was a part of who she was. She was a nurse for 30 years in the area at several nursing homes and toward the end of her career she was a hospice nurse. She loved to read and watch cooking shows. She enjoyed the beach and every day she lived always found the positive in people and situations. She was never afraid to speak her mind.

Debra was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Steadham and mother, Doris Bennetsen.

Debra leaves to cherish her memories; step-father, Henry Bennetsen of Seadrift; loving and devoted son, Brandon Hastey and wife Laura of West Columbia; sister, Sharon O’Bryan and husband Jimmy of Sweeny; brother, Ronald Steadham and wife Betty of Brazoria; good friends, Susan and Bill Tyrrell of Brazoria and Debbie Rec of Lake Jackson; grandchildren, Dalton Hastey of Denver, Colorado, Dylan Hastey of Woodbury, New Jersey and Taylor Hastey of West Columbia; husband, Paul Sanders of Lufkin; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
