David Vargas, 59, of Brazoria passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 27, 1967 in Harlingen, TX.
He was a member of the Jesus is the Answer Church in Clute, TX. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. He would spend time with his friends and family telling stories and his world famous “David” lectures.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Vargas; brothers, Victor Alvardo and Larry Rodriguez, III and his sister, Maria Castillo.
His is survived by his loving wife, Kenja Vargas of Brazoria; sons, Colby Sims and wife Hilda of Houston, Zachary Royse and wife Gladys, Roberto Alvarez and wife Mari, both of Brazoria; daughter, Chelsea Ponder and husband Shane of Clute; brother, Mondo Vargas and wife Annette of Oakley, CA; grandchildren, Elijah, Cheyenne, Kyndell and Jeremy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Brazoria Cemetery in Brazoria, TX. with Pastor Julie Velez officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Shane Ponder, Colby Sims, Zachary Royse, Bradley Frazier, Robert Alvarez and Kevin Frazier.
