Clifton J Gibson, 93, of West Columbia passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston due to complications from head injuries caused from a car accident.   On July 31, 1927 in Quay, Oklahoma a beautiful baby boy was born to John and Rachel Stewart Gibson whom they named Clifton John Gibson.

Clifton was a member of The Gathering Church. He and Winifred read the bible in its entirety for 26 years straight. He loved helping Ricky build houses and went with him every day to jobs and helped build many many houses. He served in the US Army Air Corps and was a World War II Veteran.

Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Smith Gibson; daughter, Sharon Gayle Gibson; parents, John and Rachel Gibson and brother, Earl Gibson.

Clifton and Winifred were married after he met her on Monday, asked for her hand on Tuesday then married on Saturday of the same week. 6 days of courtship lasted 66 years until her passing in 2012 and he missed her every day since!!

Clifton is survived by sons, John Paul Gibson and wife Brenda of Lake Jackson, James C. Gibson and wife Donice of Sweeny and Ricky W. Gibson and wife Cheryl of West Columbia; grandchildren, Rebekah Maynor (Cory), Mandi Black, Joey Gibson, Lyric Gibson, Sheresa Dagley and John Lewis Gibson; 7 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will start at 10:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria with Pastor Tyler Owens and Pastor Richard Sandbach officiating. Interment will follow on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Dilley Cemetery in Dilley, Texas.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
