Funeral services for Clarence Eugene Sasser, 76, of Sandy Point will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Northway Baptist Church, 1421 Buchta Road, Angleton, TX, with Rev. J. DeWitt Clark officiating and Pastor Alonzo Brown eulogizing. Burial will be at the Houston National Cemetery.
Clarence passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 in Sugarland, TX.
He was employed as a Decision Review Officer for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Houston Regional Office and recognized as a Distinguished Alumni at Texas A&M. His most noted accomplishment was the Medal of Honor received for his diligent act of bravery to render medical aid to wounded comrades. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal and DSC.
Clarence was a member of New St. Phillips Baptist Church and President of Northwest Brazoria County Servicemen.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Ethel L. Sasser; sons, Benjamin E. Sasser and Rossano Dickey; parents, Willie Sasser, Jr. and Alice Brown and two brothers, Willie L. Sasser and Jerome Brown, Jr.
Clarence leaves a life legacy and precious memories with his son, Billy E. Sasser, Sandy Point; brothers, Rodney Sasser, Angleton, Michael Sasser (Mary), Houston, Melvin Brown, Houston, Robert Brown, Portland; sisters, Jessie Brown, Oakland, CA, Jacqueline Hall, Clute, Romie Scott, Fresno, TX, Susan Brown, Houston, Cynthia Stewart (Donald), Angleton, best friends, Patricia Washington, Buffalo and Sheri Phillips, Angleton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Davis, Corey Davis, John Scott, Brad Randolph, Noah Scott and John Scott, III.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
