Brenda Joyce Strambler Butler
“Brut”

Funeral services for Brenda Joyce Strambler Butler, 73, of College Station, Texas, formerly of Freeport, Texas, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at First United Missionary Baptist Church, Freeport, Texas with Rev. David Rougeau officiating.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery, 600 W. Pleasant Street in Brazoria.

Brenda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in College Station.

Brenda was born on October 6, 1948 to Louis and Naomi Strambler at the Dow Hospital in Freeport, Texas.

She joined Bethel Baptist Church at an early age and played the piano for the Sunday School.

She was a graduate of Brazosport High School in 1967. Brenda attended and graduated from North Texas State University in August 1971 with a degree in sociology.  She held many job titles and worked for Vocational Guidance Service as a counselor, MD Anderson Cancer Center as a floor manager and DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) as a counselor.

Brenda married Danny Butler and to this union, one son was born Brent Danyea Butler in 1986.

She retired in 2011. Brenda was an avid historian and very knowledgeable about all subjects.  She helped many people throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her loving son, Little Danny Butler and brother-in-law, Wayne Kerl.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Danny Butler of College Station; son, Brent Danyea Butler of San Jose, California; parents, Louis "L.D." and Naomi Strambler of Freeport, Texas; sister, Linda Thomas of Richwood, Texas; brother-in law, Edward Kerl (Bonnie) of Dallas; sister-in-law, Sherrie Smith (Gary) of Oakland, CA; nephews, Leon Thomas of Richwood, Texas, Edwin Kerl of Dallas, Texas, James Smith of Oakland, California; great nephew Tyler Thomas; niece, Dee Kerl of Oakland, California; great niece, Madison Thomas of McAllen, Texas and a host of relatives and friends in Texas and California.

Visitation will be same day as service from 10:00 – 10:55 a.m. at the church.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
