Betty Joyce Sykes

Funeral services for Betty Joyce Sykes, 79, of Sugar Land, TX, will be Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 East Mulberry, Angleton, TX, with Pastor Ruben Newell officiating and Pastor Diana Creeks eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.
                                                                                                                                                                                                     
She passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 in Sugar Land, TX.

Betty was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed listening to music and tutoring young children and received the Educator of the Year Award.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Alonia Merriweather; husband, Charles Sykes; sister, Melba Brown and niece, Lana Wright.

She leaves precious memories with her son, Charles Dixon (Tawanna), Flint, MI; daughters, D’Andrea Johnson (Tyrone Riley), Katy, TX and Shealia Contreras (Edward), Schertz, TX; sisters, Helen Wright and Joyce Hayes; best friends, Margaret Ship and Ella Bean; 19 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Tim Johnson, Devion Contreras, Edward Contreras, Jr., Edmond Contreras and Edrico Contreras.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the same day of service.
