She passed away surrounded by her children on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
She was born in Sargent, Texas, raised in Brazoria (Magnolia) area, attending public school in Cedar Lake and Sweeny. She accepted Chris at an early age uniting with Bethlehem Christian Church, now currently a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church until her health wouldn't allow. Her family saw her as a woman who knew the Lord, believed in integrity, hard work, and independence. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. Betty loved cooking! Cooking every Sunday, dinner for the family, and cooking her famous "Pinto Beans" for family and friends. Once owner of a BBQ establishment in the Magnolia Community, Betty was also well known as owner of Fields Janitorial Services . She was always ready to travel with family and friends, but never the driver! She was a person embraced by many affectionately as "Nanny", while she embraced them as "Durling" offering if necessary practical and peaceful advice.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories; son, Carl Douglas Fields (Jennifer), Lake Jackson; daughters, Constance L Fields (Fred Devault), Sharon A. Fields, Loretha Marshall Edison (Herman) and Jackie Marshall Higgins (Steven) all of Brazoria; sister, Thelma Alexander, Brazoria; sisters-in-law, Florida Ward, Fort Worth, Wilada Green, Ida Emmanuel and Alma Fields all of Bay City and Betty Plummer, Cedar Lane; special cousin, Ruby Wilson, Houston; good friends, Terry Mendoza, Johnny Brooks, Gloria Fields, Roosevelt George and Herman Fluellen, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren
