Funeral services for Betty Jean Darthard, 61, of Freeport, will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry St., Angleton, TX with Pastor Tommy Darthard eulogizing and Pastor Anthony Bonner officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.
She passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Houston, TX.
Her favorite past times were cooking, playing dominoes, taking care of her birds and anything relating to sports. She was a 4 year letterman at Brazosport High School. Her greatest achievements were being “record holder” for assists and steals at University of Houston and playing on the Professional Womens Basketball Team - The Houston Shamrocks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillup and Mary Lee Bryant Darthard; grandparents, Sam Bryant, Sr. and Flora Wright Bryant; Van and Valerie Doans Darthard.
She leaves to cherish her memories, brothers, Calvin Ray Darthard (Audrey), Phillipino Darthard, Nolan O. Darthard, Reynold Q. Darthard, Pastor Tommy T. Darthard (Karen) and James F. Darthard; sisters, M. Jane Tolbert, Marylian J. Jones, Linda Ward (Rev. Earl) and Helen M. Adeniken (Ola) and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Christopher D. Bryant, Bobby T. Darthard, Anthony W. Bryant, Terry I. Darthard, Victor Bryant and Arnal R. Lovick.
Visitation will Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX.
