Funeral services for Barbara Lend Fyles Thomas, 76, of Angleton, Texas, will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at First Missionary Baptist Church Family Life Center, 523 North Parrish in Angleton with Rev. David Charles officiating and Rev. Benjamin Emanuel eulogizing. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery, 600 W. Pleasant Street in Brazoria.

Barbara gained her heavenly wings on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Cypress Woods Care Center in Angleton.

She attended Marshall High School, Wharton Jr. College, Compton Community College, Los Angeles Trade Tech College and obtained her Cosmetology license.

Barbara was a faithful member of Greater Handy A.M.E. Church where she lovingly served on the Hospitality and Outreach Ministries and was a former Church Trustee. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Cypress Woods Care Center and Beautician at CWCC Silver Curl Salon for 36 years where she received numerous service awards. She was President of the Brazoria County Beautician’s and All God’s Children Clubs, Hospitality Chairman of Marshall High Alumni Association and a member of the Juneteenth Celebration Committee.

She traveled the world, with some of her most memorable trips being Germany, Alaska, and Italy. She enjoyed working with plants, collecting dolls, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Hallmark movies and spending time with family, friends, “Divas,” and co-workers.  She loved her family, friends, classmates, co-workers and nursing home residents dearly.

She was preceded in death by parents, William Jr. and Jeannett Thomas; grandparents, Lewis Fyles, Sr., and Virginia Fyles; brother, Freddie Thomas; stepbrother, Jack D. Williams; and sisters-in-law, Dianne and Jacqui Thomas.

Barbara leaves loving precious memories with her stepmother, Carrie Thomas of Brazoria; son, Dinsmore Thomas (Deborah) of Blythewood, SC; daughter, Dana Tolbert (Jacob) of Angleton; sister, Virginia Turner (Anthony) of Angleton, brothers, Emmitt Thomas (NFL Hall of Famer) of Angleton and J.C. Lee (Faye) of Beaumont;  sister-in-law, Janett Thomas of Angleton; God daughter, Anita Bangura (Emmanuel Taylor) of Texas City; play daughter, Tina Jackson (Victor) of Rosharon; God son, Steven King of Clute; best friends, Betty Joyce Hoffman of Angleton, Ann Jones of Los Angeles, CA, Verna Jean Tolbert of West Columbia and Linda Willis of Angleton; special friends, Sheree Cunningham of Florida and the Fyles Family Divas, Sheri Phillips, Carolyn “Queenie” Lewis, Virginia “Baby” Turner and Jessie Mae Lundy Randall; uncles, Andrew Fyles Sr. and Lewis Fyles Jr.; Cypress Woods Care Center Staff and Residents; grandchildren, Dr. Jerel Tolbert, Jaret Tolbert, Dinisio Thomas, Dakari Thomas and Damarion Thomas; great grandchild, Zillah Thomas and a host of  nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2022, at Greater Handy A.M.E. Church, 418 T J Wright, Angleton from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Due to the COVID-19 Virus, everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
