Barbara Marie Cummings

Barbara Marie Cummings 76, of Brazoria, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born December 15, 1944, in St. James, Missouri, to Dorothy Laney.

Barbara was the oldest of eleven children which only further developed her caring and loving nature. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to the love of her life, Robert (R.D.) Cummings, for 56 years. Together, they had two children, Deborah (Debbie) and Robin. They were later blessed with three granddaughters Hannah, Tabitha, and Rachel. Her children and grandchildren say that Barbara was the strongest woman you would ever know. She loved her family deeply and cherished every moment she spent with them. She was always willing to listen and never forgot anything you told her. She was wise and quick-witted. Her grandchildren would claim that she had all the necessary items needed for life in her purse – candy, scissors, or anything else – she had it. She never missed the important things in life and even during the hardest times of her life, her faith in God never wavered.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (R.D.) Cummings and her mother, Dorothy Laney.  

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Deborah Ray and husband Philip, Robin Paul and husband Robert, all of Brazoria; grandchildren, Hannah Barrier of Houston, Tabitha Ray Walles and husband David, and Rachel Ray, all of Brazoria and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Carroll Springs United Methodist Church, 5810 CR 4600, Athens, TX, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor B.F. Flowers officiating. The burial will immediately follow. Pallbearers are Robert Paul, Philip Ray, and David Walles.
