Funeral services for Arthur Davis, 73, of Alvin will be Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX with TeResa A. Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time.
He passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, TX.
He retired from the Department of Corrections in Florida after 25 years of service and moved to Texas where he worked as a Training Officer at the Brazoria County Sherriff Department until he retired in 2010. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, traveling, smoking Cuban cigars, horseback riding, and spending time with his beautiful wife and grandchildren.
His achievements include, being awarded a Training Scholarship to attend training sessions of the 112th A.C.A. Congress, recognition for 15 years of service with the Florida Department of Corrections, receiving a Certificate in Corrections from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, Florida, College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He was a member of American Correctional Association and was a Certified Breeder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard George and Alberta Rodgers Davis; brothers, Gus Lucas and Woodrow Wilson; sisters, Betty Davis and Mable Lovett; grandchild, Tecara Simms; great grandchildren, Ariel Jackson and Brandon Jackson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Elizabeth C. Davis; sons, Arthur Alexander Davis, Christopher Davis, Fabian Leon Davis; daughters, Regina Catherine Davis Jackson, TeResa Ann Davis, brother, Richard George Davis II; good friends, Truman Brooks (brother-in-law), Alonso (aka AW) Proctor and Floyd Harris; grandchildren, Reneshea Jackson, Tre Jackson, Shalonda Jackson, Jayshawn Jackson, Donte Davis, Brianna Davis and Jayden Davis; great grandchildren, Demetria Jackson, Tramiah Jackson, TJ Jackson, Kaleigh Jackson, Harmonee Jackson, Talaysia Jackson, Ayden Jackson, Taelynn Jackson, Njemah Jackson, Taj Jackson, Keenston Jackson and Carson Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
