Funeral services for Alice Scott Jonas, 79, of Missouri City, TX will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Brazoria, 101 San Bernard Street, Brazoria, TX, with Pastor Kenneth Benjamin officiating and Bishop Compton Wharton eulogizing. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.
Alice passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.
She was a pastor, teacher, attorney, camp director, property manager, private investigator, ministerial review board member, law advisor to the church, amongst other hats. She was the Pastor-Emeritus and Founder of Fresno Worship Center and a member of the Christian Law Association. Her achievements included pastoring several churches within the Church of God of Prophecy, Doctor of Jurisprudence, Public Defender and Director of Academic Mastery Center at Camp Lost Pines. She enjoyed traveling, involving herself in the community, spending time with her grandkids, watching basketball with her son and husband, shopping with her daughter, cooking, baking and witnessing to people about God.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Jonas, Sr.; parents, Robert Arthur Scott, Sr. and Willie Mae Scott; brothers, John Henry Scott, Sr. and Robert Arthur Scott, Jr. plus bonus son, Dwight E. Jonas.
She leaves behind precious memories with her son, Austin Jonas, Jr. (Simone) of Houston; daughter, Maria Jonas Kennedy (Toi) of Missouri City; bonus children, Bernice Harriet Jonas of Bronx, NY, Jo Ann Carty of Orlando, FL and Judith G. Pacho of Deptford, NJ; sisters, Jo Ann Wilson of Austin, TX and Mary Ann Scott of Missouri City; brother, General Scott, Sr. of Missouri City; sisters-in-love, Melva Scott of Austin, TX, Venita Diane Scott of Angleton, TX and Isza Williams Darlington of Queens, NY; brothers-in-love, Liston Williams (Palina) of Road Town, Tortola, Dalton Williams of New York, NY and Elvie Williams of Road Town, Tortola; daughter-in-love, Ronnette Gregg-Jonas of NY; grandchildren, Cairo Kennedy, Petra Kennedy, Baby Edwards, Joel Carty, Justin Carty, Jonelle Carty, Emilio Pacho, Jr., Victoria Pacho, Tamara Jonas and Antonio Jonas along with a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be John Scott, Jr, Noah Scott, Prince Bailey, Zach Booker, Mark Booker, Ashton Deshay, Brandon Pittman and Shane Stewart.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to service.
