ALICE (THORNTON) RAMBY Obituary

Alice Ramby, 84, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024.  She was born in Fonda, NY.  Alice attended Fonda's elementary and high schools. She graduated from high school in 1956.  She then went to Syracuse University and graduated in 1960 with science teaching degree. Over the years she worked as a science teacher, as a real estate agent, and for the Broome County Office for the Aging while living in Broome County NY.

Alice was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed being with everyone on trips and vacations. She always managed to take family members to museums and parks.

Alice loved the outdoors.  She cross country skied, downhill skied, played tennis, hiked, and swam.  If a beach was close by, she always enjoyed the water.  She also enjoyed board games, card games, and dominoes.

Alice was a member of the Brazosport Art League.  She enjoyed painting with a group of people around.  She attended the Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church.

The love of Alice's life was her husband, Ken.  They were married on June 29, 1963 and they lived in Endicott, NY until 2000.  They took many trips over the years in the US.  Their first day of travel always consisted of a picnic lunch packed by Alice, come sun, rain, or snow. They had two children Tara & Dwayne.  They moved to Brazoria in 2000 so Ken could help care for of his parents.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents Lansing and Bertha Thornton, two brothers Henry and Harvey Thornton, her sister Avis Hogan, her son-in-law Dan Keily and two nieces-Carolyn Hogan & Andrea Moore.  Alice is survived by her husband Ken, her daughter Tara Keily, her son Dwayne Ramby and wife Lisa Ramby, her sister Arleta Moore, her sister-in-law Mary Thornton and three grandchildren; Cody Schurch, Andrea Frank, and Brandon Schurch. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Rowan, Brixton, Myles, Asher and Zoey.

We thank the people at Anchor Hospice and K's Personal Care Home for their good and thoughtful care.
