Funeral services for William James Harriest, 79, of Brazoria will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria with Pastor Booker T. Randon officiating. Burial will follow at Galilee Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.
He passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at CHI St. Luke’s Brazosport Medical Center in Lake Jackson, Texas.
He was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir and men’s choir until his health failed. He loved fishing, carpentry and gardening. He was an outdoors man. He also loved motorcycles. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Harriest; daughter, Deborah Hills; mother, Hattie Dancer Mack (Arthur C. Mack, Sr.); father, Arthur Randon, Sr.; sisters, Katie Lewis, Bobbie Bivens, Mary E. Woodard, Mary Johnson, Addie Nelson, Sylvia Williams, Hattie Travenia, Mary Ellen Randon Hall and Frankie C. Ward; brothers, Gilbert Mack, Isiah Mack, Arthur Mack, Jr., Abel Mack, Travis Mack, Moses Mack, James Goodwin, Johnny Nickols, Carnel Moore, Randolph Randon, Sr., Peter Randon and Arthur Randon, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, sons, Vincent James, Franklin Brown, Shinton Cross and LaQuinton Williams; daughters, Vickie Williams and Sonya Harriest; sisters, Rebecca Mack Grice (Nathaniel), Elizabeth M. Godley, Hannah Wood (James) and Betty Brown; brother, Randolph Mack (Gladys); good friend, George Lemon; special nephews, Marcus Bonner and Anthony Mack; 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Albert Johnson, Marvin Jones, Terry Mack, Vernon Jones, Alden “Skip” Woodard and Clayton Jones.
Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry, Angleton, Texas. There will be viewing at the church on the day of service. There will be no viewing afterward.
