Walterine (Fields) Davis "Big Mama"

Funeral services for Walterine Davis, 98, of Brazoria will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church in Brazoria with Pastor K.B. McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

She passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at her residence.

She was a faithful member of Greater St. Paul Baptist Church until her health failed. During her tenure she was past Sr. Mission President, Sunday School Teacher and served on the Usher Board. She loved fishing, canning and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Fields, Sr. and Manervia Dickerson; husband, George Davis, Sr.; sons, Elmo Davis and Don Ray Davis.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; sons, William “Bubba” Davis, Sr. (Gertie) and George Davis, Jr. (Hattie) both of Brazoria and Cecil Davis (Faye), Missouri City; daughters, Ruby Lee Davis, Brazoria and Lillie Mae Jean, Houston; brother, Frank Fields (Norma Jean), Brazoria; brother-in-law, Larry Blow (Adriene); good friend, Alma Oliver, Brazoria; 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Davis, William Davis, Jr., Marquis Davis, Brad Jean, Justin Davis, Roderick Davis, Quincy Davis and Biron Jean.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Davis, Sr., George Davis, Jr., Cecil Davis, Corwin Davis, Sr., Dexter Davis and Armond Davis.

Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria with a wake service from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be viewing at the church on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
